The Midgley Bridge Vault Toilet project was funded and installed with grant money obtained by the OCWC and in partnership with the US Forest Service. The facility opened in May 2014. The project was launched in response to high volumes of litter and refuse disposed by recreationalists during the 2012 Cinco de Mayo weekend at and near Midgley Bridge. This area is highly sensitive due to the shallow depth of the regional aquifer at this recreation site.

In 2008, the OCWC turned over the new public roadside restroom facilities to the USFS at Indian Gardens, Oak Creek Canyon. The restrooms are adjacent to the renovated Visitors Center. The restrooms were completed and are now open by the collective efforts of members of the Oak Creek Watershed Council.
